I’m not just creating a look, I’m building confidence…

The other day I was asked, ‘how long have you been doing weddings for?’ My first wedding was in 2015. I couldn’t believe it was 10 years ago I fell in love this job. While I wasn’t working in the industry full time, I knew this would be the career path I would follow.

Over the years, I’ve realised my job isn’t just hairstyling, it’s about the whole experience. Seeing my brides blown by the final look is why I love my job so much.

Recently, I’ve had the pleasure of working with my lovely bride to be Beth. Beth has never had her hair and makeup done before and explained she was feeling out of her comfort zone. Unable to decide what style was best for her wedding day, she left the decision up to me. Here is how we came to a decision.

✨ How do you usually wear your hair day to day? “In a ponytail.”

✨ What neckline does your wedding dress have? “Low back.”

✨ Do you have any hair concerns? Beth has very long, fine hair but lots of it.

Just by asking these few questions, this helped Beth decide what she didn’t want. We realised quickly that Beth is most confident with having her hair up and since the wedding is in June we decided having Beth’s hair down wasn’t the best option.

Reasons being:

✅ Long hair can feel heavy and warm in hot weather.

✅ Wearing it down would cover the delicate details of her dress.

✅ She wasn’t sure if curls would hold, having never had her hair curled before.

Taking all of this into account I advised on a loose mid to high modern bun. A style I particularly wanted to try and would suit Beth's hair perfectly.

The outcome?

We had happy tears in the room. From never having her hair professionally styled to feeling elegant and still feeling still herself. This is why I love my Job.
